A fire fighter must be prepared for anything and everything
when working on the fire grounds. In the event things go wrong a fire
fighter must have the skill and training to get themselves out of
danger. Below you will see different skills that can be used to help
maintain survivability in case of floor collapse, SCBA failure, confined
space, window bailouts.
***PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS WITHOUT PROPER
TRAINING***
***LIFE SAFETY ROPE WAS USED ON ALL BAIL OUTS***
Before any training started fire fighters were safety
briefed and shown how to tie a hasting harness which would allow a
safety line to be hooked to the fire fighter.

Special thanks go out to
Augusta
Township Fire Department for loaning us the house for this
evolution. We also would like to thank Rob Caccia, Carl Peters, Jeremie
Schneider from Wayne City Fire Department for taking there own personal
time to come down and help conduct this training.
Confined space training is a must in case of
collapse.

Fire Fighters learned techniques to get themselves
out of trouble in case they collapsed through a floor.

Entanglement can be a very serious problem for a fire
fighter due to the large amounts of gear they use. This inexpensive
training prop is a great tool for helping fire fighters develop
skill in getting out of these types of situations.

In case the need a fire fighter needs to bailout of a
window they need to know proper techniques to help avoid injury.
Window Bailouts 1st Floor

If the need arises an attack team can bailout of a
2nd story window using the fire hose they are using to fight the
fire.
Window Bailouts Multi-story using charged fire hose

Another technique of getting out of a multi storied
building in a hurry is the use of extension ladders.

ladders

As a last resort a bailout using just life safety
rope may be needed. This again is a last resort.
